Smite priest trick #2: Divine Hymn
Trienish the shadow priest friend taught Johannah this trick; it’s useful not just for smite priests, but for all Discipline priests. By having this bad boy ready to go, you’re sure to be the healing hero when something terribad happens and the raid gets nuked to near non-existence.
Here’s the three spells involved in this world-saving orgy:
This means you’re going to be able to do this once every 10 minutes, and you’re going to have to have Power Infusion and Inner Focus on cooldown. But hey, who remembers they have Inner Focus anyway, amirite? And if you can somewhat predict the raid’s unfortunate collapsing on your head, you can somewhat predict when to have Power Infusion available too.
Make a macro called “PANIC” and give it the following:
#showtooltip
/cast Power Infusion
/cast Inner Focus
/cast Divine Hymn
Inner Focus and Power Infusion are both off the GCD, so there’s no need to worry about cast sequences here. Alternatively, you can remove #showtooltip and give it a humorous red image so it’s a red panic button.
Next time you think you’re all dead (but somehow you all have 5% health), press PANIC. Let yourself channel for 8 seconds.
And enjoy.
Note: If you also are using Smite priest trick #1: Prayer of Mending, you’re slowly evolving into the raid’s off-healer best friend. See how this is better than the elemental shaman’s off-heals? You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the utility you bring in exchange for your lower DPS output!

Nice post, the macro is very useful indeed. I like your blog, it has innovation and offers a different perspective in smiting from mine. I like how you focus on off-healing and utility, as the hardest part for a smite priest to join a raid is to justify its use and slightly gimped dps. Anyway, I rarely leave comments on blogs, but I do lurk and read them. Thought I just drop a line and say keep up the good work.
